Allegro's Mission

Allegro means . . . joyful
The mission of Allegro: The Chamber Orchestra of Lancaster, is to bring joy and enrichment to the lives of the community. The group focuses on master works for small orchestra by (or inspired by) 17th and 18th century composers who are known for the joy their music brings the listener -- Bach, Handel, Mozart, Haydn and many others. The music is filled with joy, which is clearly seen in the enthusiasm of the players. These fine musicians clearly love what they are doing.

Allegro means . . . fast and lively
Allegro brings the music to life through concerts that are specially designed to be engaging, en-joyable and fun for the audiences of the 21st century. Barriers between performers and listeners are broken down. The players, in their distinctive Allegro polo shirts, mingle with the audience before concerts, during intermission and after performances. The Allegro conductor, Brian Norcross, is well known throughout the region for his superb musicianship, positive focus, and unique ability to relate to audiences. His sharing of anecdotes about the composers and their work increases everyone's understanding and appreciation of the complexities of the music.

Allegro means . . . a different musical experience
